• The History of Keno

    [ English ]

Keno was first played in two hundred BC by the Chinese military leader, Cheung Leung who used this game as a finance resource for his failing forces. The city of Cheung was waging a war, and after a bit of war time appeared to be facing country wide shortage of food with the excessive decrease in supplies. Cheung Leung had to create a fast fix for the economic adversity and to produce revenue for his military. He thusly developed the game we now know as keno and it was a wonderful success.

Keno was referred to as the White Pigeon Game, seeing as the winning numbers were broadcast by pigeons from larger municipalities to the lesser towns. The lottery ‘Keno’ was imported to America in the 19th century by Chinese expatriates who headed to the United States for work. In those times, Keno was played with one hundred and twenty numbers.

Today, Keno is normally played with just 80 numbers in most of the US land based casinos as well as web casinos. Keno is commonly played today as a consequence of the laid back nature of betting the game and the basic fact that there are little expertise required to enjoy Keno. Regardless of the fact that the odds of getting a win are terrible, there is always the possibility that you might win quite large with very little gaming investment.

Keno is played with 80 numbers with 20 numbers drawn each game. Players of Keno can choose from 2 to ten numbers and wager on them, as much or as little as they are able to. The payout of Keno is according to the bets made and the matching of numbers.

Keno has grown in popularity in the United States since the close of the 19th century when the Chinese characters were replaced with more familiar, US numbers. Lottos weren’t covered under the laws of gambling in Nevada State in 1931. The casinos renamed the ‘Chinese lottery’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the idea that the numbers are horses and you want your horses to place. When a law passed that taxed off track wagering, Nevada casinos swiftly changed the name to ‘Keno’.
